சென்னை சங்கமம்' தொடக்க விழா நிகழ்ச்சி சென்னை பல்கலைக்கழக நூற்றாண்டு விழா கலையராங்கில் நடைபெற்றது. விழாவில், முதல்-அமைச்சர் கருணாநிதி கலந்துகொண்டு, ஒரு வாரம் நடைபெறும் `சென்னை சங்கமம்' நிகழ்ச்சியை தொடங்கிவைத்தார். விழாவில், மத்திய மந்திரி வயலார் ரவி, மத்திய சுற்றுலா மற்றும் பண்பாட்டு துறை மந்திரி அம்பிகா சோனி ஆகியோர் கலந்துகொண்டனர். தொடக்க விழாவினையொட்டி பல்வேறு கிராமிய கலை நிகழ்ச்சியில் மேடையில் நடைபெற்றன. 1 1/2 மணி நேரம் நடைபெற்ற இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியை முதல்-அமைச்சர் கருணாநிதி, சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்கள், பார்வையாளர்கள் என அனைவரும் ரசித்து பார்த்தனர். `டிரம்ஸ்' சிவமணியில் இசை நிகழ்ச்சி அரங்கத்தையே அதிரவைத்தது. மத்திய மந்திரிகள் ராசா, வேங்கடபதி, சபாநாயகர் ஆவுடையப்பன், அமைச்சர்கள் ஆற்காடு வீராசாமி, துரைமுருகன், மு.க.ஸ்டாலின், பொன்முடி, பரிதிஇளம்வழுதி, தங்கம் தென்னரசு, சுரேஷ்ராஜன், எ.வ.வேலு, கவிஞர் வைரமுத்து, சென்னை மாநகராட்சி மேயர் மா.சுப்பிரமணியன் ஆகியோரும் விழாவில் கலந்துகொண்டனர். விழாவிற்கு வந்தவர்கள் கவிஞர் கனிமொழி கருணாநிதி எம்.பி. வரவேற்று பேசினார். `சென்னை சங்கமம்` நிகழ்ச்சியை தொடங்கி வைத்து முதல்-அமைச்சர் கருணாநிதி பேசுகையில், திருமங்கலம் எப்படி எனக்கு நல்ல செய்தியைச் சொல்லப் போகிறதோ அதைப் போல இந்தத் திருவிழா, பெரு விழாவாக மாறி நல்ல செய்தியைச் சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றது என்று கூறினார்

The Tamil Nadu government will consider setting up an organisation for the welfare of NRIs from the State on the lines of the Department of Non Resident Keralites Affairs।

You should invest in areas such as power, where returns are more than 200 per cent,” he said, chairing the session.
Mr. Veeraswami said Tamil Nadu was committed to go in for clean and green energy. The per unit cost of establishing and running a coal plant was Rs.2.34 while for wind power, it was between Rs.2.90 and Rs.3.40. வெற்றிகரமான நாடாக மாறிவருகிறோம்! மன்மோகன்சிங் உறுதி
`இந்தியாவை தீவிரவாதிகளால் நிலைகுலைய செய்ய முடியாது' என்று பிரதமர் மன்மோகன்சிங் கூறினார்.சென்னை நந்தம்பாக்கம் வர்த்தக மையத்தில் வெளிநாட்டு இந்தியர்களுக்கான 7-வது மாநாடு தொடங்கியது. இந்த மாநாட்டை பிரதமர் மன்மோகன்சிங் நேற்று காலையில் தொடக்கி வைத்து பேசியதாவது:-
நவீனம், தொழில்நுட்பம் கலந்த பாரம்பரியம், கலாசாரம் நிறைந்த நகரமான சென்னையில் நாம் கூடி இருக்கிறோம். அருகில் உள்ள மகாபலிபுரம் கோவிலுக்கு உங்களில் பலர் சென்று பார்த்திருப்பீர்கள் என்று நம்புகிறேன். நமது நாட்டில் நடந்த கடல் வாணிபத்தின் வரலாற்றுக்கு அது ஒரு சான்றாக இருக்கிறது.

இந்தியாவின் பாதுகாப்பை பலப்படுத்துவதற்கு தேவையான அனைத்து நடவடிக்கைகளும் தொடர்ந்து எடுக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. தீவிரவாதத்துக்கு இங்கு பிழைப்பு இல்லை என்பதையும், பயங்கரவாதத்தை ஏவுவதற்கு அவர்களுக்கு ஏவுதளம் இல்லை என்பதையும் உறுதி செய்வதற்காக சர்வதேச அளவில் நாங்கள் மேற்கொள்ளும் முயற்சி தொடரும்.உலக பொருளாதாரம் இன்று கீழ் நோக்கி சென்று கொண்டு இருக்கிறது. ஆனால் நமது தேச பொருளாதாரத்தின் அஸ்திவாரம் அசையாமல் வலிமையாக நிற்கிறது. இந்த ஆண்டு நமது நாட்டின் ஒட்டுமொத்த வளர்ச்சி 7 சதவீதத்தை அடையும் என்று எதிர்பார்க்கிறோம். உலக நாடுகளை ஒப்பிட்டுப் பார்க்கும் போது இது அதிகமாகும். வரும் ஆண்டுகளில் இந்திய வளர்ச்சியில் ஸ்திரத்தன்மை தொடர்ந்து பராமரிக்கப்படும் என்றும் எதிர்பார்க்கிறோம்.புதிய உலக நிதி கட்டுமானத்தை உருவாக்குவதற்கான முயற்சியில் இருக்கும் ஜி-20 நாடுகள் கூட்டத்தில் இந்தியா மிகுந்த ஆர்வத்தோடு பங்கேற்றுள்ளது. பொருளாதாரத்தில் புதிதாக வரும் சவால்களை எதிர்கொள்வதற்காக ஏதுவாக புதிய அணுகுமுறைகள் தேவைப்படுகின்றன. உலக பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சிக்கு எதிரான தடைகள், பொருளாதார மாற்றங்களினால் உருவாகும் தாக்கங்கள் போன்றவற்றை அதன் மூலம் சமாளிக்கலாம். இதுபோன்ற திட்டங்களில் இந்தியாவுக்கும் தகுந்த இடம் அளிக்கப்பட வேண்டும்.கடந்த 34 ஆண்டுகளாக அணு எரிசக்தி விவகாரத்தில் தனிமைப்படுத்தப்பட்டு இருந்த இந்தியாவுக்கு எதிரான தடைகள் சமீபத்தில் சர்வதேச அமைப்புகளால் நீக்கப்பட்டன. இதற்கு வெளிநாட்டு இந்தியர்கள், குறிப்பாக அமெரிக்காவில் வாழும் இந்தியர்கள் முக்கிய பணியாற்றினர். அதற்காக நாங்கள் நன்றியுள்ளவர்களாக இருப்போம். உலகம் எங்கும் இந்தியர்கள் தற்போது பொது கொள்கைகள், கருத்தை உருவாக்குதல் போன்ற விவகாரங்களில் மிக சிறப்பாக செயல்படுகிறார்கள் என்பது மிக மிக முக்கியமான அம்சமாகும்.
உலக அளவில் இந்தியா தற்போது பல துறைகளில் வளர்ச்சி பெற்று வருவதை நீங்கள் அனைவருமே உணர்ந்து இருப்பீர்கள். சர்வதேச உலக ஒழுக்கத்தில் இந்தியா கொண்டுள்ள முக்கிய பரிணாமத்தின் எழுச்சி தற்போது அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது. சர்வதேச சவால்களை எதிர்கொள்வதற்கு நமது ஆலோசனைகள் தற்போது காதால் கேட்கப்படுவதோடு நிற்காமல் விரும்பி பெறப்படுகின்றன.2006-ம் ஆண்டு அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட வெளிநாட்டு இந்தியர்களுக்கான குடியுரிமை திட்டம் (ஓ.சி.ஐ.) பெருமளவில் வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றுள்ளது. எனவே, ஓ.சி.ஐ. அட்டைகளை வைத்துள்ளவர்களுக்காக இந்த திட்டத்தை அறிவிப்பதில் மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சி அடைகிறேன். அவர்களில் தகுதி பெற்றுள்ள டாக்டர்கள், பல் மருத்துவர்கள், மருந்தாளுனர்கள், என்ஜினீயர்கள், கட்டிடக்கலை நிபுணர்கள், ஆடிட்டர்கள் ஆகியோர் இந்தியாவிலும் தொழில் தொடங்கி நடத்தலாம். இந்த திட்டம் மேலும் மேம்படுத்தப்படும்.
இதுதவிர, `உலக இந்தியர்கள் திறன் பரிமாற்ற வலைதளம்' என்ற திட்டத்தை தொடங்கி வைப்பதிலும் நான் பெரிது மகிழ்கிறேன். இந்தியாவில் வசிக்கும் ஒவ்வொரு நபர்களையும், வெளிநாட்டு இந்தியர்களுடன் இந்த வலைதளம் இணைக்கும். அவரவர் தொழில்களை அங்குள்ளவர்களுடன் இணைந்து மேம்படுத்திக் கொள்ள இது உதவும். கல்வி, சுகாதாரம் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு துறைகளில் இவர்கள் தங்கள் திறமைகளை பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளவும், ஆலோசனைகளை பறிமாறிக் கொள்ளவும் இந்த திட்டம் பயன்படும்.வளைகுடா நாடுகளில் வசிக்கும் 50 லட்சத்துக்கும் மேற்பட்ட இந்தியர்களைப் பற்றி இங்கு குறிப்பிட விரும்புகிறேன். ஓமன், கத்தார் ஆகிய இடங்களுக்கு சமீபத்தில் நான் சென்றிருந்த போது, பல விஷயங்களில் பங்களிப்பதற்கு உடனே முன்வருவதை நான் அங்கு கண்டேன். அவர்களது நோக்கங்களும், செயல்பாடுகளும் எனக்கு ஆச்சரியம் அளித்தன. அந்த நாடுகளில் செல்வம் பெருகுவதற்கு அவர்கள் அளிக்கும் பங்களிப்பு என்னை வியப்புக்குள் ஆழ்த்தியது.
எனவே காசா பகுதியில் நடக்கும் தாக்குதலால் வளைகுடா நாடுகளில் ஏற்பட்டு இருக்கும் பதட்டம் மேலும் அதிகரித்து வருவது நம்மை வேதனைப்படுத்துகிறது. அங்கு நடக்கும் தாக்குதலால் அப்பாவி ஆண்கள், பெண்கள், குழந்தைகள் தேவையில்லாமல் பலியாகின்றனர். இந்த சம்பவத்தை இந்தியா வன்மையாக கண்டிக்கிறது. சர்வதேச அமைப்புகள் அனைத்தும் ஒருங்கிணைந்து அங்கு விரைவில் அமைதி ஏற்படுத்துவார்கள் என்று நம்புகிர்றேன்

விண்வெளிக்குள் சந்திராயன்-1 கடந்த அக்டோபர் மாதம் சென்றது, இந்தியாவின் தொழில்நுட்ப சாதனைகளின் கண்காட்சிக்காக அல்ல. சந்திரனை சந்திக்க வேண்டும் என்ற நமது பழங்கால கனவு நிறைவேறி இருக்கிறது. ஒருநாள் ஒரு இந்தியன் அல்லது வெளிநாட்டு வாழ் இந்தியன், சந்திரனுக்கு பயணத்தை மேற்கொள்வான் என்பதை இங்கு உறுதியாக கூறிக்கொள்கிறேன்.
இந்தியாவில் மனித வாழ்க்கையில் ஏற்படும் முன்னேற்றங்களில் நீங்கள் அனைவரும் பங்கேற்க வேண்டும் என்று அழைப்பு விடுக்கிறேன். உங்கள் நன்மைக்காகவும், இந்தியாவின் மேம்பாட்டுக்காகவும் நாம் அனைவருமே இணைந்து பணியாற்ற மேலும் பல உத்திகளை, இந்தியா பற்றிய உங்களது நம்பிக்கை உருவாக்கும்.இவ்வாறு அவர் பேசினார்.
